"Hiding behind mom and dad, she came to QMA as a very shy young lady. Not wanting to touch the horse nor talk to instructors, this bright, precious child of God was locked inside her body and needed a 4-legged friend to help her out. That’s where Cassidy came in, a 7-year-old yellow POA mare stood quietly and confidently, and waited for Sam to be ready. With soft, kind eyes and the patience of a job, she just stood there as if to say, “I’ll wait…however long it takes.” And patiently wait she did. The first session took a long time for Sam to get used to Cassidy, much less mount her. Finally, Sam allowed us, with Dad’s help, to get on Cassidy. Holding on to the horn for dear life, Sam (accompanied by her two side walkers and horse leader) allowed Cassidy to slowly walk around the arena with her. Week by week, slowly but surely, Sam gained confidence from her 4-legged equine friend, and soon Sam was riding with one side walker. Soon, Sam was yelling and waving at the staff from the other side of the arena. Good job, Cassidy."
